This software update link is for both KayakDD and HD switchers. Customers are supplied an initial software CD with their switcher purchase and we make these updates available on a regular basis to get new features and bug fixes into the field. Once downloaded the Kayak software can be installed directly from a PC that is on the same network as the Kayak switcher, or from a USB flash drive. The software can be saved to a CD which will auto start when installed in your drive, or can be started manually from the folder on the PC using the /autorun/autorun.exe file. A high speed (DSL or better) internet connection is recommended since the download is about 345MB. Only 70MB of that download is istalled onto a USB stick or CD for the upgrade.
This document will show you a sample of the "NEW" Graphical User Interface for the software installer program. It only covers the "Side Panel" software installation and "System" software installations from USB flash drive or LAN connection. During the installation procedure the system checks the software update for completeness and to make sure that there have been no changes to the software. If a modification is detected, the installation process stops at 99% and displays a related error message. In this case the previous installation remains active and you should contact Customer Service at 1-800-547-8949 (option 2) for help.

UPDATE (DECEMBER 2009): This new build of v702.10 software is intended for use on the Kayak SD_HD switchers and supports operation with a Kayenne XL Panel. We do NOT recommend loading this software onto Kayak DD (SD only) or Kayak switchers with XtenDD control panels. Along with the software in the download are manuals and Release Notes that cover all of the new features.

UPDATE (JULY 2009): This new build of v700.04 software is intended for use on the Kayak SD_HD switchers and will support connection to a Kayenne XL Panel. We do NOT recommend loading this software onto Kayak DD (SD only) switchers. Along with the software in the download are manuals and Release Notes that cover all of the new features.
CAUTION (JAN 2009): A problem has been discovered with some new RoHS model Kayak DD switchers after upgrading to version 694.17 software. Please do NOT use 694.17 with the Kayak DD switchers. The switcher can get stuck in a MIX or WIPE transition mode and may not change to the other transition type unit the eBox is power cycled. There is no problem with version 691.6 software so we recommend you downgrade to 691 software. This is a patch build and is password protected. The password is "68firebird". This issue is only seen with DD switchers, the newer SD/HD switchers won't be effected.
UPDATE (OCT 2008): Kayak SD/HD 694.17 software now available (NOT for Kayak DD). New Kayak HD features include Personality Menu changes, SetDef output format conversion option, eDPM expanded DPM option, RGB Color correction for Aux Buses, Additive Transitions, Advanced Ram Recorder Audio features, KacheBack real time Ram Recorder file backup/restore feature.
CAUTION (OCT 2008): A problem has been discovered with Kayak DD switchers running with 693 software. After a power cycle they may loose their battery backed up RAM memory. There has been no report of this problem with version 691.6 software so we recommend if you have this problem please downgrade to 691 software while we work on this issue. This is a patch build and is password protected. The password is "68firebird". Only newer RoHS version DD switchers seem to be effected.
UPDATE (April 2008): Kayak 693.15 software now available. New Kayak HD features include FlexiKey (programmable cleanfeeds), Basic audio in RAM REC, new DPM Transform Interpolation modes, Extended AMP protocols, Extended ACOS protocols, Ram Recorder hard drive support, Enhanced USB updates, and enhanced Source Shift Button modes (via Side Panel setup).
UPDATE (Sept 2007): Kayak 692.9 software now available. Features include Spektra Output Recursive (Trails), Multi Mix Mode, Permanent Key PVW modes, enhanced Main Panel menus, and enhanced Side Panel menus.
UPDATE (May 2007): Kayak 691.6 software now supports Kayak HDX. This permits XtenDD/DD35 Control Panel adaptation for use with a Kayak HD Frame. For details view the Service Bulletin and Release Notes included within the 691.5 download folder.
