Amsterdam, The Netherlands (IBC — Stand 1.D11), September 08, 2011 — Grass Valley™ is pleased to announce further workflow integration between the popular EDIUS® 6 nonlinear video editing software and the K2 media server systems, with the release of the updated K2 EDIUS Connect option.

The K2 EDIUS Connect option provides a seamless integration between EDIUS and K2 to achieve better efficiencies in production environments such as studios and broadcast newsrooms. The advantage of this integration for users is faster and simpler production cycles compared to other server-editor combinations.

The K2 EDIUS Connect option enables direct editing of K2 clips, playlists, and programs in EDIUS 6. Users can search K2 storage from the EDIUS Source Browser, as well as edit clips directly from K2 storage to the timeline, without the need to transfer clips. The K2 EDIUS Connect option also permits editing of files currently being ingested from K2 Summit™ clients. K2 clips edited together in EDIUS can be exported back as a single K2 clip, or the sequence can be exported as a K2 program allowing immediate playback without any rendering. Users are also able to capture video as K2 clips, directly from EDIUS.

The K2 EDIUS Connect option requires EDIUS 6 (6.05 or higher), as well as K2 Summit 8.0 (or higher) to use.
