Meredith Stations Continue Migration to Grass Valley Ignite System for Automated HD News Production
Ignite HD is now on-air at WSHM, the CBS affiliate in Springfield, MA.; WHNS, the FOX affiliate in Greenville, SC; WFSB, the CBS affiliate in Hartford, CT; WNEM, the CBS affiliate in Saginaw, MI; WSMV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville, TN; and KVVU, the FOX affiliate in Las Vegas, NV.
Other Meredith stations currently in the process of deploying Ignite systems are KCTV, the CBS affiliate in Kansas City, MO and KPTV, the FOX affiliate in Portland, OR. KPHO, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, AZ will follow suit in 2010. Meredith is also considering deployment of Grass Valley's new multi-distribution MediaFUSE® content repurposing system at a location to be determined later this year.
"Meredith clearly recognizes the value of a tightly automated workflow and the benefits this brings both to their on-air look and overall operations," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Grass Valley. "The Ignite system is both powerful and easy to use, providing stations with an effective means of improving content delivery and delivering opportunities for new revenue streams in an increasingly competitive marketplace."
The Grass Valley Ignite HD Integrated Production System is helping an ever-increasing number of stations make the move to HD production for their local newscasts in a fast and cost-effective way. To date, over 100 Ignite automated control room systems have been installed worldwide as stations continue to recognize Ignite's ability to increase productivity, improve their on-air look, and strengthen their brands.
At leading network-owned and affiliate stations in five of the six largest and most competitive US broadcast markets (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco), the Ignite system has proven its ability to handle the critical demands of both scripted and non-scripted programming.
In television markets of all sizes in the US and worldwide, stations are adopting Ignite to facilitate HD broadcasts that will help improve ratings and operating cash flow. With the ability to run newscasts with as few as one or two people, these stations are also able to simplify the process of content delivery and shift resources to expanding content creation.
About the Ignite System
The Grass Valley Ignite HD system can be ordered with one to four M/Es, up to 32 control ports, and is completely scalable from 24 to 96 video inputs and 24 to 96 audio inputs, The control room system offers an integrated Grass Valley Kayak HD video switcher and optional audio mixer, that simplifies production and allows a single operator to run an entire newscast. Optional video and audio panels are available for those broadcasters who want to employ a manually operated system. Ignite systems are also multi-distribution ready for when a broadcaster is prepared to add the MediaFUSE Web and Mobile Option.
The Grass Valley MediaFUSE suite helps broadcasters increase the amount of multi-formatted content for multiple distribution platforms by as much as five times that of traditional manual processes. Within minutes of receiving live or existing material, the system can turn around segments for time-critical programming such as news.
