Paris, France/Nevada City, Calif., May 17 2010 — When the world comes together for the World Expo 2010 in China this year, a full complement of high-definition production equipment from Grass Valley™ will be used to enhance the visitors’ experience and create professional news content (live and pre-recorded) from the exposition for distribution throughout the fairgrounds and around the world.
The comprehensive international World Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, from May 1 to October 31, 2010, and is expected to attract up to 70 million visitors–more than any other in the history of the world’s fair.
The World Expo fairgrounds will feature several major facilities to accommodate professional video productions as well as multimedia visitor attractions and interactive information systems all supported by Grass Valley HD solutions.
CCTV HD studios at the EXPO 2010 selected two Kayak™ HD 200C production switchers for daily live broadcasts.
A new ChinaTelecom Master Control Room at the Expo 2010 will use a Grass Valley Trinix™ HD (64x64) router, Acappella™ analog and digital audio router, Encore™ control software, and 16 ViBE encoders and 16 DBD 4437 MPEG-2 decoders to generate and distribute programs.
In the Expo METEO World Pavilion, there is a fully equipped HD production studio and state-of-the-art control room complete with Grass Valley LDK HD cameras, a Kayak™ HD production switcher, and a K2 Summit™ server.
Grass Valley equipment will also help visitors to the Expo as part of a dedicated closed-circuit cable TV network that will be supported by a K2 Summit™ HD server, Acappella HD router, and numerous workstations running Grass Valley EDIUS® HD editing and ProCoder® software.
Finally, the Expo’s Volunteer Information Distribution Systems, delivered via terrestrial television signals, will use a Grass Valley Indigo™ AV mixer and a ViBE IP encoder to present useful information (audio and video clips) about everyday events at the event.
