Amsterdam, The Netherlands (IBC2012—Stand 1.D11), September 07, 2012 — At IBC 2012, Grass Valley® will show its constant commitment to providing a comprehensive solution for news production with the latest enhancements to the Grass Valley STRATUS™ Media Workflow Application Framework. GV STRATUS provides a uniquely powerful approach to news solutions enabling customers to optimize workflows by combining tasks into a totally integrated user experience.
New features shown for the first time at IBC 2012 add archive management to the jobs that can be combined into a single workspace through tight integration with popular archive management systems. The GV STRATUS search interface is used for a single unified search of online and archived assets. Users can preview search results by browsing a proxy resolution of the archived items, and use the new partial file restore feature to retrieve only the needed portion of large full resolution media files.
"The integrated archive management interfaces bring a new level of power to newsroom GV STRATUS users'," said Charlie Dunn, Executive Vice President of Products at Grass Valley. "It means that every newsroom task, from ingest through simple editing all the way to archive and over the top distribution can be combined into a single powerful and totally configurable user interface, and all of that power can be made available within the context of the customer's existing MOS compatible newsroom computer systems. The implications for workflow efficiency are enormous."
"Our focus in all of our solutions approaches is to maximize our customers' return on investment and lower their cost of entry for the newly emerging distribution opportunities for news content," said Ed Casaccia, Director of Segment Marketing for News at Grass Valley. "GV STRATUS revolutionizes the news business by making the initial system cost, the total cost of ownership, and the time to air for news content a fraction of what the industry has come to expect."
IBC 2012 will also see the launch of a new concept in camera technology for the full gamut for studio and outside broadcast solution needs. "We believe our new LDX camera series changes the paradigm for the entire market." said Marcel Koutstaal, Senior Vice President of Imaging Systems Group.
LDX™ (see release: "Grass Valley Pioneers High Quality Image Acquisition with its LDX Series of Cameras" – September 7, 2012) is a powerful and extensible physical platform based on a new and advanced CMOS imaging system that delivers image quality unmatched by older traditional technologies. Extended features and capabilities may be enabled by software licenses. In this way, a relatively low budget news studio operation can enjoy the same high quality imaging used in the covering of the biggest live events in the world. At the same time, it allows producers and operators of those world-class events to select only the features they need at each camera position, and change those features from one event to the next.
