San Francisco, Calif., April 8, 2013 — Pepsi Center—home to the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), and Colorado Mammoth (NLL)—has selected Grass Valley® to equip its new HD control room with an end-to-end live production solution that includes LDX Series™ cameras, GV STRATUS® nonlinear production tools, a Karrera® video production switcher, K2 Dyno® Replay Systems, K2 Summit® 3G servers, Trinix® and Concerto™ routing switchers, and an assortment of support equipment to feed the arena's center-hung HD LED panel, ribbon boards, and monitors.
"Grass Valley's ability to provide us with a true end-to-end system for live production made it the stand out choice for us," said Billi Capra, Vice President, Broadcast Services of Altitude Sports & Entertainment (Pepsi Center). "Grass Valley's solutions are efficient, intuitive, and give us the freedom to be creative and deliver the kind of quality coverage that our fans love. The integration of Grass Valley's solutions means that the workflows will be seamless—including integration with our existing Final Cut Pro 7 NLEs. We can't wait for our first game."
Scheduled for June deployment in advance of the 2013-14 NBA/NHL seasons, the heart of the new control room will be GV STRATUS—a suite of highly configurable, easy-to-use media production and content management tools housed in a single application—providing the Pepsi Center with a new production asset management system specialized for a fixed sports venue. This ability to manage content like never before and the breadth of Grass Valley's live production solutions portfolio were key factors in the Pepsi Center's vendor decision. Systems integration firm Diversified Systems, headquartered in Kenilworth, NJ, and Grass Valley's Global Services division worked together on the system design.
"The Pepsi Center's selection of our products from cameras to switchers through to nonlinear production applications is a clear example of how Grass Valley is able to deliver a seamless workflow solution which simplifies the delivery of live content across multiple platforms," said Tim Thorsteinson, President and CEO of Grass Valley. "As a company, Grass Valley is focusing on giving the broadcast industry the tools it needs to maximize efficiency through flexible solutions and smarter ways to invest in technology, without restricting creativity."
The new control room project includes three LDX Elite™ software upgradable camera systems with XCU™ Elite base stations, two RefleX SuperXpanders for large box-type lenses, a Karrera Video Production Center 5 M/E switcher with K-Frame™ and two control panels, two K2 Dyno Replay Systems based on the Dyno S controller and each with a multi-channel K2 Summit 3G media server, a full K2 Summit SAN, 12 GV STRATUS clients, a Trinix NXT 3G 256x512 routing switcher, a Concerto Series 128x128 audio routing switcher, and a Jupiter™ routing switcher control system with 20 Jupiter LCD control panels.
In addition to its design and consulting activities, Grass Valley will also be providing equipment commissioning, staff training, and support.
