Hillsboro, Ore., November 25, 2013 — Hokkaido Television Broadcasting (HTB) in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan is improving on its current Grass Valley® system to reach its millions of viewers in a more timely, efficient manner. Upgrading from K2 EDIUS® Share, the veteran broadcaster purchased 10 turnkey HDWS-3GX EDIUS Elite workstations complete with Grass Valley's STORM™ 3G Elite breakout box and STORMTM 3G PCIe board which are built to optimize the EDIUS multiformat nonlinear editing software. Rounding out HTB's purchase are three REXCEED-X1000 units, two REXCEED-LT300 units, and K2 SAN storage.
The new Grass Valley solution will be used to produce a variety of content for HTB, including news programming and talk shows as well as sports and weather reports. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies.
"HTB has been a Grass Valley customer for many years and have continuously relied upon our products, services, and expertise for their programming workflow. With new EDIUS Elite workstations in place, HTB is assured a quick news turnaround time and can rely on key features like compositing, mixed-format editing, and titling to make their production more creative," said Stephen Wong, Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific, Grass Valley.
EDIUS Elite simplifies any newsroom environment, offering a file-based workflow with better editing, faster operations, and the ability to create more content for new distribution outlets. That's important to HTB who has been broadcasting for 40 years across different regions, including Japan, Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia. STORM 3G Elite gives HTB full optimization of its EDIUS software for more versatility and flexibility across all projects.
