While advances in content capture and workflow have opened new opportunities for broadcasters and content creators, they have also introduced a new set of challenges. 4K UHD has started to gain traction in the market for its ability to deliver much higher resolution images, but with it comes much more data to be managed and transported. High dynamic range (HDR) and wide color gamut (WCG) are also getting more attention in the market today, particularly because they deliver visual improvement that's easy to distinguish and require comparatively smaller adjustments to the workflow. Grass Valley makes it possible for customers to move into these new formats at their own pace, ensuring future compatibility to preserve capital investments.
At the same time, broadcasters and content creators are finding a need to incorporate more types of content in a variety of formats, even from users themselves, and package it all in a way that it can be delivered seamlessly to any device at any time. Grass Valley also is working with Net Insight and Calrec to demonstrate plug-and-play WAN-based IP remote production capability. The solution, which features Grass Valley's Direct IP live concept with an LDX 86 Series camera sending IP signals compressed in J2K with SMPTE 2022-6 to a Grass Valley XCU, will be shown daily at Net Insight's stand 1.B40.
