GeckoFlex 8949MDA-CXF HD/SD/AV Monitoring Distribution Amplifier Fiber-Ready

The 8949MDA-CXF is a monitoring distribution amplifier with PAL/NTSC monitoring outputs. This board is ideal for low-cost monitoring of HD-SDI signals. It provides four monitoring coax outputs and four reclocked coax outputs and can be used to distribute either SD-SDI or HD-SDI making it ideal for mixed format applications or installations where an upgrade is planned. Aspect ratio controls are active on the downscaled outputs with an HD input signal.

With its fiber-ready architecture, the 8949MDA can use one of three types of fiber optic sub-board options. With a dual transmitter fiber option installed, two fiber outputs are provided in addition to the eight coax outputs. Applications include use as an HD-SDI fiber transmitter with additional monitoring and reclocked coax feeds. Or the board can have a dual receiver (two fiber inputs) or a transceiver (one fiber input and one fiber output.

Parameters can be adjusted with onboard controls or via standard HTML web browsers or via the Newton control panel (when installed in network-equipped chassis). In addition NetConfig and CommandCenter can be used for remote configuration and signal health monitoring.

This is a monitoring device so, in order to provide the fastest possible conversion, the board does not perform de-interlacing and consequently it has an extremely short processing delay of 0.97 ms.

  • Reclocked distribution of SD or HD-SDI signals for reconstructed input fan-out
  • PAL/NTSC monitoring output with aspect ratio controls for HD inputs
  • Distributes both SD-SDI and HD-SDI with automatic format detection for flexible future-proof system architectures
  • Provides SD monitoring output whether input is SD or HD
  • Very high-density solution
  • Accepts optional fiber transmitter to provide optical, HD-SDI, and PAL/NTSC monitoring outputs for combined local/remote systems
  • Configurable as fiber receiver with four HD-SDI outputs and PAL/NTSC monitoring
  • Where an PAL/NTSC monitoring feed is required
  • HD-SDI distribution alongside monitoring in PAL or NTSC
  • Rate-agile systems requiring distribution and a consistent composite monitoring feed
  • A fiber receiver with composite monitoring
  • A fiber transmitter with local HD and composite monitoring feeds
