The 8981NR is a 270 Mb/s SDI component digital noise reducer module. This module incorporates two different noise reduction methods that are targeted at different sources of noise. A recursive filter is effective for low levels of wide-band (random) variations that have no frame-to-frame correlation, and a horizontal median filter is very effective for impulse noise. Typical applications include reduction of random noise generated during analog transmission or digital processing. Signals from various sources with varying amounts of noise resulting from poor transmission and processing will greatly benefit from using this product by reducing the bandwidth required later during the MPEG compression process.
