3G Triax Camera to 3G Fiber Converter (LDK 4426)
3G Transmission Family Converter

The Grass Valley™ LDK 4426 3G Triax Camera to 3G Fiber Converter is a heavy duty, high-quality, multi-standard converter between 3G Triax and 3G Fiber transmission systems that is fully 3G and 3D-ready. It supports current 1080i50/60 and 720p50/60 formats as well as future 1080p50/60 transmission from the LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam.

The LDK 4426 Converter makes a 1-to-1 conversion of a 3G Triax camera signal to a 3G Fiber signal. Ancillary data, such as return-video, control, and intercom are also converted 1-to-1. There is absolutely no compromise on quality. Using this converter with LDK cameras means complete transparency between 3G Fiber and 3G Triax.

There are two primary scenarios where this converter is ideal:

  1. In pre-cabled (dark) fiber venues and stadiums: The LDK 4426 Converter is connected between the 3G Fiber camera and the pre-cabled dark fiber infrastructure, which is connected to the 3G Twin Base Station (LDK 4420).
  2. Where very long cable runs are required. The 3G Triax camera can only normally run up to 1,500m (4,921 ft), this can be extended to over 10 km (32,808 ft) when using single mode (dark) fiber. Connection is exactly same as above.

The LDK 4426 Converter turns 3G Triax signals into 3G Fiber signals without any quality loss or functionality loss—maintaining all transmission diagnostics. This converter in combination with the 3G Twin Base Station gives maximum transmission flexibility for any OB truck.

It is compatible with single mode fiber connectors (both ST and SC types) and the (Lemo) hybrid fiber SMPTE connector, and uses a standard local mains power connector (IEC type, 3-pin male).

The converter is built to withstand extreme weather situations and conforms to the IP54 Safety standard (dust and waterproof). It is supplied as standard with a sunhood and a robust bracket. It can also be placed in a standard 19" rack where up to four units can be placed side-by-side. Additional cooling is recommended for rack installation.
