XCU Camera Transmission
On-Demand Made Easy

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts

The patent pending XCU™ (eXchangeable Control Unit) base stations are like no other in the world. XCU's unique patent-pending cradle can be pre-mounted and pre-wired in the rack, making a secure mechanical and electrical connection, permitting the XCU base station to easily slide in and out whenever needed. Each XCU comes with one cradle, but additional cradles may be acquired to extend usability across different environments, allowing you to quickly and easily transfer XCUs between OB vans, studios, or anyplace.

World Class Transmission: 720p... sure. 1080i... of course. 1080p... now that's world class—and that's the XCU WorldCam™. As a member of the Grass Valley® 3G Transmission Family, XCU WorldCam fully supports the LDX Series™ upgradable camera platform, and many LDK Series camera heads, with both triax and fiber solutions. For 1.5G operation, the XCU Elite™ supports current 1080i and 720p HD formats and is upgradable to full XCU WorldCam specifications for 1080p50/59.94 operation.

Faster than a Locomotive: The XCU XtremeSpeed XF Fiber™ provides the support and increased bandwidth required for 3X speed 1080p super slow-motion and 6X speed ultra slow-motion operation for 1080i and 720p. XCU XtremeSpeed XF Fiber supports 720p/1080i/1080p/1080PsF formats and is fully compatible with the same XCU cradle used for the 3G Triax and 3G Fiber XCU base stations, and any mix between the different XCUs inside the pre-mounted cradles. This is clear proof that the XCU concept is a real game-changer for video production companies and OB truck operators to minimize operational costs and streamline reconfiguration for any type of production.

Rock the Cradle: Imagine the flexibility of being able to move base stations easily and quickly between locations such as trucks and studios. XCU cradles deliver just that. Pre-mounted and pre-wired to eliminate cabling errors, the unique cradle provides on-demand resources for fast paced productions, resulting in less set up time and more on-air time. Compatibility with the LDX Series and many LDK Series cameras extends the cradle's usefulness across all types of productions.
