New initiative combines scholarships, hands-on learning, and access to Grass Valley technology to help universities develop industry-ready talent for live sports production
MONTREAL, CANADA – April 6, 2026 – Grass Valley today announced the launch of its Future Playmakers Program, a new global initiative designed to support and develop the next generation of professionals in sports production and media technology.
Timed ahead of NAB Show, the program reflects Grass Valley’s continued investment in education, workforce development, and long-term industry growth. It is built to help students gain practical experience while enabling higher education institutions to strengthen their production programs with access to professional-grade tools and workflows.
The Future Playmakers Program combines scholarships, hands-on learning, technology access, and institutional collaboration. It is designed to create a sustainable pipeline of talent trained on industry-standard solutions used across live sports and event production.
“Developing the next generation of talent is critical to the future of our industry,” said Jon Wilson, CEO of Grass Valley. “The Future Playmakers Program is about giving students real access to the tools, workflows, and experiences that define modern live production, while strengthening our partnerships with the institutions shaping that future workforce.”
Through the program, Grass Valley will select up to 10 students annually from participating partner institutions. Selected students will receive financial support alongside access to experiential learning opportunities designed to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world production environments.
A central component of the program is the Grass Valley Montreal Technology Experience, where students will engage directly with the company’s technology and teams. The experience includes a factory tour, hands-on product demonstrations across cameras, production switchers, AMPP, and orchestration solutions, as well as live production workflow sessions and access to industry experts.
“The industry is evolving quickly, and there is a clear need for talent that understands both production and technology,” said Greg Doggett, Vice President of Sales, NAM Sports, Grass Valley. “This program is designed to give students that exposure early, while helping higher education institutions build programs that reflect how live production operates today and gaining important exposure to where the industry is headed.”
Participating institutions benefit from scholarship opportunities, increased industry visibility, and closer collaboration with Grass Valley through technology alignment and program engagement. The initiative is open to higher education institutions and production programs investing in next-generation broadcast and live production workflows.
By connecting students, educators, and industry professionals, the Future Playmakers Program aims to deliver long-term value across the media ecosystem. It supports the development of operators, engineers, and production specialists equipped to work in increasingly complex, IP-based, and software-defined environments.
Grass Valley will share additional updates on participating institutions as the program expands.

Booth 9.A01 at IBC 2025 will feature demonstrations of real-world integrations of Alliance partner technologies with AMPP and the GVMU ecosystem
MONTREAL, CANADA – September 8, 2025 – IBC 2025 will see the full collaborative power of the GV Alliance brought to Booth 9.A01, as Grass Valley showcases real-world integrations of partner technologies with its Agile Media Processing Platform (AMPP) and GV Media Universe (GVMU) ecosystem. AMPP is open by design, and the partner showcases will demonstrate how AMPP enables more flexible, cost-efficient, and scalable workflows for news, live production, sports, and playout.
By combining the power of Grass Valley’s software-defined ecosystem with complementary partner technologies, the GV Alliance ecosystem delivers integrated solutions that accelerate deployment, simplify workflows, and gives customers the flexibility to build systems tailored to their operations.
“Broadcasters have told us they don’t want to be locked into one vendor, and we’ve heard that loud and clear,” said Matt Yates, Director of Strategic Alliances at Grass Valley. “Customers want confidence that their tools will work together seamlessly. That’s the purpose of the GV Alliance, and at IBC 2025 we’re showing how these integrations with AMPP and our product family deliver real, practical benefits”.
The showcases cover technology integrations across five areas: Newsroom & Editorial Tools; Production & Live Contribution; Storage & Data Management; Cloud Playout & Media Services; and Hybrid Control & Integration.
Newsroom & Editorial Tools
The modern newsroom is no longer just a physical studio space; it’s a hub for story-centric, multi-platform content creation, where reacting quicker than the competition is critical for success. Broadcasters are being challenged to innovate faster, create ever more content, while running their business with increased efficiency. Grass Valley will demonstrate how it is working with its Alliance partners to intelligently address the industry’s major pain-points.
Saga will demonstrate its cloud-native, story-centric NRCS integrated with Framelight X, providing newsrooms with faster, more collaborative workflows. By combining FLX media access with a modern NRCS, Saga accelerates story production while keeping the newsroom at the center of the workflow.
Mavis will be on stand to show how the camera apptransforms iPhones into professional camera-to-cloud tools. The app streams progressive uploads directly to Framelight X, enabling fast turnaround for news and social content while providing professional focus, exposure tools, and codec control.
Zoom Communications will demonstrate their new ZoomISO cloud platform, using MXL to provide high-quality remote contribution feeds into AMPP, enabling newsrooms and event teams to include multiple remote contributors seamlessly.
qibb will showcase its low-code media workflow orchestration platform, enabling integrations from a library of over 130 connectors. Integrations include: Schedule and traffic integration for linear and FAST playout with AMPP Playout X; Social media publishing with Framelight X; and File accelerated delivery and sharing with Framelight X. By simplifying system integration and reducing time to go live, qibb further accelerates ROI for AMPP deployments while supporting scalable automation.
Production & Live Contribution
Technology is reshaping traditional broadcast models. Cloud-native production is driving greater efficiency, enabling direct-to-consumer, FAST, and social-first platforms to expand both the number of distributors and the volume of content produced. Grass Valley will showcase how it has been working closely with Alliance partners to deliver flexible, cost-efficient, and fully integrated solutions that provide customers with more diverse ways to create content.
Vislink will feature its INCAM 5G HEVC UHD integration for LDX 100 Series, showcasing broadcast-quality wireless contribution with dual SIM resilience and integrated AMPP ingest. This solution offers a faster, cost-effective alternative to traditional RF systems for live production.
Acromove will show off its private 5G appliance, working with Vislink and Grass Valley to provide an end-to-end live production solution.
Make Pro X brings modular professional audio surfaces integrated with AMPP, combining tactile control with modular flexibility. Audio professionals benefit from motorized faders, rotary controls, and touch-sensitive buttons within a fully integrated AMPP workflow.
Skaarhoj will show how itscontrol panels, including the PTZ Controller and Master Key One, allow operators to unify multiple device brands, including AMPP, under a single interface. With a simple web-based configuration, and attractive Danish design, it allows customers to streamline complex productions.
Telos Alliance will present its new Junger Audio FlexAIcloud, its cloud-based audio processing platform and the Telos Infinity VIP Intercom. FlexAI offers features including AI-driven loudness correction, AES67, Dolby, 2110-30, encoding and decoding, automix support for next-generation audio standards, upmix and downmix capability), and flexible deployment across cloud, COTS, or hardware. Junger Audio enhances AMPP productions with software-defined, AI-powered audio tools. Telos Infinity VIP integrates directly with AMPP, enabling scalable, true cloud intercom systems over standard IT networks.
Storage & Data Management
Data storage is a cornerstone of software-defined production, but without careful planning, costs can spiral, and management can become a barrier instead of a benefit. Editorial teams need instant access to files and consistent metadata to find, edit, and publish quickly. Meanwhile, businesses demand resilience, security, and redundancy, all while keeping total cost of ownership under control. At IBC, Grass Valley will show how its Alliance Partner integrations deliver secure, intelligent data management that helps customers unlock their full potential.
Pixitmedia will showcase Ngenea and Pixstor, offering high-performance storage and intelligent data workflows. With Ngenea, editors can start work on growing files anywhere in the world, just 30 seconds behind live, while archives and asset management systems remain synchronized, reducing operational complexity, carbon footprint and costs.
Wasabi cloud storage will be integrated into workflows with EDIUS 11 and Framelight X, offering predictable costs, enterprise-grade security, and multi-region storage, helping customers optimize cloud storage for AMPP workflows.
Cloud Playout & Media Services
Cloud production delivers clear workflow and cost benefits, but the real challenge is often how to support software-defined operations day to day. Grass Valley and its Alliance partners provide orchestration and deployment tools that allow customers to configure once, then scale productions up or down as needed. The showcase will demonstrate how AMPP’s partner ecosystem allows companies to tap into new monetization opportunities while taking advantage of pre-built workflows and ready-made integrations.
AWS Elemental integration with Playout X will be highlighted through MediaPackage, MediaTailor, and MediaConnect, delivering end-to-end FAST playout and cloud-based content monetization. This collaboration allows broadcasters to scale efficiently while maintaining full control of live and on-demand video workflows.
Dataminer by Skyline Communications will demonstrate orchestration and monitoring of AMPP resources, automating workflows, scheduling online and offline resources, and providing real-time monitoring across cloud and on-premise environments.
Layercake will showcase how its Streamcake solution enables templated, cloud-based production orchestration of AMPP and third-party apps, centralizing resource management, billing, and multi-CDN distribution for more efficient remote production.
Graphics & Audience Engagement
As Live broadcasting continues to evolve, the importance of graphics and audience engagement grows. They’re no longer just decorative features, they’ve become central to storytelling, branding and attention retention. Grass Valley is pleased to work with two leading cloud native partners who offer scalable and dynamic solutions.
MxMz will exhibit the integration of its HTML5/SVG graphics with Sports/Event Producer and Maverik X, providing scalable, cloud-native graphics that can be edited and animated in real time without specialized hardware.
Digital Joy will show how its tools bring live audience engagement to productions, including quizzes, polls, contests, and branded events, integrated into AMPP workflows to enhance interactivity and viewer experience.
Hybrid Control & Legacy Integration
Broadcasters have significant capital tied up in legacy equipment and workflows, so moving to software-defined production often needs to be a phased transition. Grass Valley’s partners help bridge that gap, providing solutions that connect existing systems with the next generation of production tools.
TSL will show hybrid control and monitoring solutions, including AMPP Portal, GVO Tally, and protocol conversion tools, bridging legacy devices with AMPP and supporting phased software-defined adoption.
Seamless Collaboration
Through the GV Alliance, Grass Valley and its Alliance partners demonstrate how integrated, cloud-native, software-defined workflows can be deployed today. These solutions at IBC 2025 highlight a future of media production built on openness, flexibility, and seamless collaboration. Join Grass Valley and its GV Alliance partners on Booth 9.A01, IBC 2025, RAI Amsterdam Convention Center, September 12-15.
