Building a Unified Production Environment for La Liga

Introduction

NVP has built a new production environment to support its five-year contract with LaLiga for coverage of its two principal leagues: LaLiga EA Sports (first division) and LaLiga Hypermotion (second division). Grass Valley AMPP Live enables centralized production of every LaLiga Hypermotion match from NVP’s new Madrid production center, while LaLiga EA Sports continues to be produced through its outside broadcast fleet. The combined operation supports more than 800 live matches each season.

Challenge

The two LaLiga divisions have different production requirements.

NVP needed to support centralized remote production for LaLiga Hypermotion alongside established outside broadcast workflows for LaLiga EA Sports, while maintaining common engineering practices, production quality and operational standards.

The new Madrid facility also needed the capacity to produce multiple matches simultaneously and adapt as production requirements change.

Scalable hybrid system

We now have a hybrid system that combines outstanding image quality with the scalability and reliability required for top-tier football production.

Solution

NVP deployed a software-defined production environment built around Grass Valley AMPP Live, with six production galleries in Madrid.

Maverik X, Audio Mix and LiveTouch provide switching, audio and replay, supported by Orbit orchestration, Kaleido IP multiviewers and IP gateway technology.

Across the wider operation, 144 LDX 135 and LDX 150 cameras provide UHD HDR acquisition, alongside Karrera production switchers and Sirius routing infrastructure.

End Result

NVP can now allocate production resources according to the requirements of each competition while maintaining common workflows across centralized and outside broadcast production. The Madrid facility supports simultaneous LaLiga Hypermotion matches, while a common camera and technology platform provides consistent UHD HDR acquisition and a familiar operating environment across both leagues. The architecture also gives NVP scope to expand capacity and refine workflows as requirements evolve.
