From the early days of analog switchers to the first transitions to digital and high-definition technology, Heinzel has always embraced cutting-edge tools. Over the years, he has built several state-of-the-art flypacks, including one of Europe’s first systems utilizing Grass Valley’s K-Frame switchers. “When I use cameras or switchers, Grass Valley is always my first choice. Their reliability and quality are unmatched,” Heinzel shares.

Redefining Concert Production with Grass Valley
One of his recent projects took place in August 2024 at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport: a three-day concert for the iconic punk band Die Ärzte. Attended by more than 150,000 fans, this massive live event also supported the “Labor Tempelhof” initiative, focusing on sustainable and innovative event practices.
The stage design was groundbreaking, featuring two 15 x 11 meter LED screens flanking the stage and delay screens in the infield, creating a total of 400 square meters of LED display. Fifty Frames employed seven Grass Valley cameras, including LDX135, LDX C150, and LDX86N models, paired with a Grass Valley K-Frame XP switcher, to deliver stunning UHD/HDR visuals.
“The quality was exceptional,” Heinzel recounts. “With Grass Valley equipment, the brightness, colors, and even the HDR transitions were flawless. The screens and cameras worked so seamlessly that the visuals felt truly lifelike.”
Additionally, Fifty Frames carried out an ISO recording of the entire project, discreetly capturing 75 terabytes of UHD/HDR footage. This careful process preserved the essence of the moment in stunning detail for future releases; seamlessly, and without drawing attention.

This approach allows us to stay ahead of the curve and offer clients unparalleled results.”
