Hitomi Solutions for AMPP

Hitomi has developed solutions to integrate into the AMPP platform that augment the hardware solution by enabling the analysis of latency and lip sync in places that the hardware cannot reach. The cloud-native approach comprises three integrated applications: MatchBox Probe acts as a silent monitoring agent deployed throughout broadcast workflows, Software Analyser processes timing data from multiple probe points simultaneously, and MatchBox Renderer displays results on monitoring walls or web interfaces.

This native integration enables broadcasters to verify synchronisation at any point within their virtualised infrastructure without signal conversion or routing delays. Engineers can manage up to 15 probe points simultaneously, providing comprehensive visibility across complex multi-layered productions whilst maintaining the millisecond accuracy that live broadcasting demands.

Seamless AMPP Platform Integration

Deployment within AMPP is straightforward and infinitely scalable, with Hitomi applications integrating directly into existing broadcast workflows without external dependencies. Probe applications are positioned within the AMPP environment at critical measurement points in the signal path, automatically detecting timing patterns from MatchBox Generator hardware or the Glass iOS app

The Software Analyser then correlates data across all probe locations, providing real-time analysis accessible through intuitive web interfaces or multiviewer monitor wall. This architecture enables broadcasters to monitor timing throughout their entire workflow, from ingest through processing to distribution. The solution scales effortlessly from single-stream analysis to complex multi-location productions requiring comprehensive timing verification.

AMPP Integration

InSync’s FrameFormer integration with Grass Valley’s AMPP platform contains the necessary tools for converting fast-moving complex HD content in high-value live streams for premium global distribution in any format or frame rate.

FrameFormer’s high quality algorithms deliver the best image quality across a wide range of content, including fast multi-directional motion as seen in live sports, with support for standard output formats from SD to full-HD at 50-60Hz frame rates, progressive or interlaced, plus a custom mode allowing selection from 128×96 to 1920×1080. Associated audio will be passed with a delay to match the video, and monitoring of live conversion performance is also included to indicate system resource utilization levels.

RT Software is a UK graphics specialist, founded in 2004 by members of the BBC’s graphics department. Native AMPP workload

Swift runs containerized on Linux AMPP nodes, several engines per CPU/GPU, on-prem, hybrid or cloud. Your graphics capacity scales with the rest of the production instead of sitting on its own hardware island.

Uncompressed frame-cache IO

Video moves in and out through the AMPP frame cache with native 10-bit IO, so the live source reaches the engine as a texture surface. That is what puts 3D, HDR and 4K capable L-bars and squeeze-backs over live TX, frame-accurate at the junction.

Customisable control surface

Swift Live's browser layout can follow the operator's login - a match panel in sports, a newsroom panel in news, simple buttons in MCR. Your operators get the controls their job needs rather than one universal panel. All driven from a browser, no customer hardware required.

Design

A designer builds the graphic as a template in Swift CG - a drag-and-drop editor with the standard broadcast building blocks (lower thirds, scoreboards, tickers, DVEs), unlimited layers, keyframed animation, and Adobe integration. Swift CG+ is the advanced editor.

Store

Finished templates and their assets go into the Swift Repository, which handles versioning and automated distribution of projects out to the render machines — so every engine in the facility (or truck, or cloud) is running the same approved version

Deploy and Render

- The Swift engine installs from the AMPP App Store as a native workload
- Containerized on Linux, On-prem, hybrid or cloud - the same engine either way.

Solution Use Cases

Live sports graphics with operator control

Swift Live gives the sports operator a match panel - cards, subs, extra time, clock - driving the Swift engine on AMPP. Live-video DVE and warps put L-bars and squeeze-backs over the live picture, frame-accurate at the junction.

Synchronous on-air alerts

Swift Live runs synchronously for manual events, so emergency alerts and breaking-news furniture come off the same engine as everything else. There is no separate alerting system to license, integrate and support.

News graphics driven from the rundown

MOS integration drives graphics straight from the newsroom system, rendered by the Swift engine on AMPP nodes. Integrated clip players and the engine's multi-channel audio mixer keep media and audio inside the render.

Mixed-project rendering across the facility

The Swift engine renders Swift CG and CG+ projects, Unreal Engine projects and HTML5 simultaneously in the same graphic. Design teams working in different tools share one graphics system on AMPP.

Scheduled playout graphics

Playout X schedules Swift graphics as rundown events, with template selection and inline data editing. The engine that runs your live control runs the channel's scheduled graphics too.
