ICE SAN has been specifically tailored for playout operations to deliver exceptional performance in speed and bandwidth. By adding SAN shared storage, your playout solution can benefit from fast turnaround of media, allowing incoming signals to be simultaneously recorded and played out by any of your connected playout channels. The SAN’s single, large-scale storage removes the transfer bottlenecks associated with separate storage and nearline NAS storage.
Grass Valley has partnered with Quantum to provide a SAN solution focused on the needs of playout, and uses both Quantum’s QXS-448 SAN and Quantum’s StorNext 6 file system.
Storage capacity of 57 TB (after RAID)
Approximately 1,000 hours of content storage at 100 Mb/s
Multiple streams of high bandwidth input and output video
Supports simultaneous live ingest, file transfer and playout
Tested for worst case scenarios including rebuilding two failed disks while continuing playout
Enterprise Class 1 SAS disks for sustained reliability in media-based applications
Fiber connected ingest and playout servers for increased bandwidth
Highly resilient with automatic rebuild using global hotspare disks, in addition to RAID protection
SAN solution integrates into a Morpheus Media Management solution for automatic media transfers
