Understanding Imager Design.

At the heart of every LDX 100 Series camera is the Xenios imager family, developed entirely in-house.

One Imager Family, Purposefully Optimized

Designing an imager is a balancing act. Sensitivity, noise performance, dynamic range, motion portrayal and color resolution are deeply interconnected. Optimizing one aspect always affects another. By developing our own imagers, Grass Valley controls these trade-offs end to end, with live production as the guiding principle.

The Xenios Family

The Xenios family consists of two closely related imagers:
• A 2/3-inch Xenios imager, delivering full UHD resolution with HDR and a global shutter
• A Super35 Xenios imager, capturing 10k resolution with HDR and a global shutter, purposefully oversampled for UHD delivery

Flawless Matching

Because both imagers are part of the same family, they share a common color science and response. This guarantees flawless matching between camera models while allowing each imager to excel in its specific creative role.

Global shutter operation across the entire Xenios family is a defining characteristic. It ensures artefact-free capture of fast motion, flashing lights and mixed environments, preserving realism where rolling shutter artefacts would instantly break immersion.

The complexity of imager design is real. The goal is to make its benefits invisible.

Choosing the Right Camera for Each Story Role

LDX 110 Series

The LDX 110 models are built around a single 2/3-inch Xenios UHD HDR global shutter imager.

They are ideally suited for BroadcastAV environments and fixed or semi-fixed installations, delivering clean, stable images with consistent color reproduction and predictable behavior.

This makes them a strong foundation for Houses of Worship, corporate studios and educational facilities, where reliability, efficiency and visual consistency matter most.

LDX 180 - Drama at the Speed of Live.

The LDX 180 is powered by the Super35 Xenios imager, capturing 10k resolution with HDR and a global shutter. By oversampling for UHD delivery, it delivers exceptional resolution, definition and sharpness, combined with the ability to create shallow depth of field.

What sets the LDX 180 apart is not just its look, but how seamlessly it integrates. It shares the same Xenios family color science, control model and operational robustness as the rest of the LDX 100 Series. This allows it to be deployed alongside LDX 110, 135 or 150 cameras without introducing visual or operational inconsistency.

In practice, this enables mixed-camera storytelling. Wide coverage and long-throw shots can be handled by 2/3-inch cameras, while the LDX 180 adds intimacy and emotional emphasis exactly where it serves the story. The result is drama at the speed of live.

LDX 135 and LDX 150

The LDX 135 and LDX 150 are built around three 2/3-inch Xenios UHD HDR global shutter imagers, capturing full resolution in all colors simultaneously.

This architecture is particularly powerful in demanding live environments and enhanced productions where real performers interact with LED walls, displays and graphics. By avoiding color subsampling and motion-related artefacts, these cameras preserve realism and visual integrity even under extreme visual complexity.

In environments where illusion must hold under scrutiny, artefacts would instantly expose the technology. The LDX 135 and 150 are engineered to keep the viewer immersed, maintaining trust in what they see even at the largest scale.

Creative Grading - Creative Control Without Visual Drift

Creative Grading provides intuitive control over the look of every camera in the production. It allows shaders and operators to harness advanced imaging technology without being overwhelmed by complexity.
By presenting camera parameters graphically rather than numerically, Creative Grading makes interactions visible and understandable. Operators can learn while working, discover new creative options and apply them with confidence.

At the same time, Creative Grading ensures that cameras remain matched. When switching between cameras, only the storytelling angle should change. Any unintended visual shift breaks immersion. Creative Grading protects that continuity, allowing creativity to flourish without compromising consistency.

They support UHD as well as HD formats such as 1080i, 1080p and 720p, global frame rates including 50 Hz and 59.94 Hz and cinematic rates where applicable. SDR and HDR workflows are supported alongside Rec.709 and Wide Color Gamut production.

Transmission and Connectivity

The LDX 100 Series supports a wide range of transmission models, including SDI, IP, DirectIP, NativeIP as well as XCU-based workflows with unique cradle-based configurations.
This allows the same camera platform to move effortlessly between productions and infrastructures. Cameras can be reconfigured on the spot, adapting to different operational models without replacing hardware or changing creative tools.
The result is a camera system that fits the production, not the other way around.
