Grass Valley Wins Two 2017 NAB Best of Show Awards

Grass Valley's Densité UHD-3901-UC cards and XCU Universe UXF base stations honored by TV Technology

MONTREAL, May 4, 2017 — Since 2014, the NewBay Media Best of Show program has recognized outstanding new products exhibited at the NAB Show through awards given by its publications, including TV Technology. This year, Densité UHD-3901-UC modular processing cards and the XCU Universe UXF camera base stations from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, were among those products chosen as winners.

"Each year at NAB, the NewBay Media Best of Show Awards provide a showcase for outstanding products that will help broadcast professionals in the studio and in the field every day." said Neerav Shah, senior vice president, Live, Grass Valley. "We take pride in listening to our customers and hearing their needs, and we're thrilled that TV Technology saw the Densité UHD-3901-UC modular processing cards and the XCU Universe UXF camera base stations as the innovative solutions we developed them to be."

In order to support a mixture of HDR and SDR content, the new Densité UHD-3901-UC modular processing cards include HDR up-mapping capabilities. The cards can accommodate a gradual adoption of HD production elements into UHD broadcasting workflows, while protecting investment in installed equipment with a model for both SDR to HDR and HD to 4K/UHD upconversion. As broadcast studios upgrade to 4K/UHD, this new upconversion module allows existing, installed equipment to be used and integrated into more advanced workflows. This includes the up-mapping of SDR content to live within the increasingly popular HDR workflow.

Grass Valley's XCU Universe UXF camera base stations are designed to support the extended bandwidth requirements of the LDX 86 and LDX 86N Series cameras with up to 6X speed operation, 4K capability and 15 F-stops of HDR. The new XCU now provides enormous overall flexibility with the ability to output any format video over IP (including TR-03, TR-04 and the new proposed standard ST 2110) or SDI. The new, advanced UXF cradle also features additional 4x MSA compliant SFP+ slots adding fully redundant IP interfacing and 12G SDI through SFP.

Thousands of products, new since last year's NAB show, are entered annually for consideration for the NewBay Media Best of Show Awards. Depending on the product's industry, these awards are given by TV Technology, Digital Video, Government Video, Video Edge, Radio magazine, Radio World, Pro Sound News and Sound & Video Contractor—all NewBay Media publications.
