Grass Valley Upgrades Key Components of TV Cultura's Production Workflow

Brazilian TV station modernized with the latest versions of GV STRATUS and EDIUS

MONTREAL, July 20, 2017 — After a decade-long partnership with Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, TV Cultura again chose Grass Valley solutions for its upgraded production studios. Over the years, the companies have worked together to equip TV Cultura's cutting-edge facilities to support a diverse range of content and to maintain the high quality Brazilian viewers have come to know and expect from TV Cultura programming. Most recently, Grass Valley provided two K2 Summit 3G Production Clients, attached to a K2 Production SAN Storage system and upgrades to the existing GV STRATUS and EDIUS solutions, as well as facilitating the migration of the network to fiber channel.

"TV Cultura has a reputation for being a broadcast pioneer. To uphold that standard, we're always finding ways to better our facilities and production solutions in ways that make sense for the long term," said Gilvani Moletta, engineering and technology director, TV Cultura. "Our Grass Valley solutions were already working for us, so an upgrade was the natural next step to ensure that we're using the best tools in the best way, optimally and efficiently."

News content is a primary function of TV Cultura. GV STRATUS helps the network keep up with the increasingly fast pace of breaking news and manage its four servers and 12 total channels. GV STRATUS efficiently handles the entire content creation and delivery process across multiple digital media platforms, while offering the ability to handle the rising volume of user-generated content (UGC) and integrate with popular social media platforms. It also includes full integration with EDIUS, the most versatile and fastest nonlinear editing software available.

Both in the field and in the studio, EDIUS Workgroup 8 offers more formats and more resolutions in real-time for the ability to edit anything, anywhere—especially important as user-generated content becomes integral to news broadcasts. For post-production on TV Cultura's broadcast news and studio programs, the editing software offers real-time, no-render editing of all popular SD, HD and 4K formats. GV STRATUS and EDIUS are also fully integrated with K2 Production SAN Storage and K2 Summit 3G Production Clients so that finished content can be efficiently stored and disseminated.

"It's always amazing to watch a customer grow with us, establishing a partnership that makes it simple to update and add to their production workflow without the need for overwhelming disruption of processes or excessive additional training," said Nahuel Villegas, vice president of sales, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), Grass Valley. "With Grass Valley solutions that can grow and modernize with their needs, TV Cultura continues to innovate and expand as a leader of broadcast content creation."
