Canon Selects Grass Valley's Mync Software to Power Advanced Video Features of New EOS 6D Mark II DSLR Camera

Buyers in Japan receive free download of Mync Standard

MONTREAL, August 4, 2017 — With the launch of its newest EOS DSLR camera, Canon has chosen to collaborate with Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, to provide software that makes it easier to manage, edit and share video content. Mync, introduced this March by Grass Valley, delivers the functionality of a media player, organizer and uploader with a simple-to-use editor, helping users better organize still and video content.

In addition to the market-leading still photo technology for which Canon is known, the EOS 6D Mark II offers outstanding video capture capabilities. Feedback from the market has shown that some users think shooting video and sharing it with friends and family is too difficult. By offering this free Mync Standard promotion with the new camera, Canon makes it easy for users to work with and share video in a simple but powerful environment.

"We've had a strong relationship with Canon over the years, and this is the fourth time that Canon has chosen a Grass Valley product to help promote one of its new cameras," noted Katsushi Takeuchi, vice president and general manager, EDIUS, Grass Valley. "Since its introduction in March, Mync has proven very popular in the market by addressing the need for a content management solution that works with all formats and provides a way to easily share."

There are two different levels of Mync: Mync Basic and Mync Standard.

  • Mync Basic is a downloadable application designed to provide exceptional format support for media playback and content organization.
  • Mync Standard adds more functionality to the basic version with storyboard video editing and more advanced content management features designed for digital photographers, web content creators and novice video editors.

This promotion includes a free download of Mync Standard for customers in Japan only and runs from June 29, 2017 to January 31, 2018.
