Grass Valley Features GV Engine and GV Platform Processing Technologies at 2018 HPA Tech Retreat

MONTREAL, February 15, 2018 — At the 2018 HPA Tech Retreat, taking place February 19-23 in Palm Springs, California, Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, will showcase new real-time media processing technologies that have been designed to address the need for highly flexible and scalable infrastructures. As part of this new media processing, HDR-capable workflow, attendees will have the opportunity to see Grass Valley cameras, multiviewers, monitors and more in action during the show.

"The HPA Tech Retreat is dedicated to new and emerging technologies, so there is no better place to demonstrate what's next for Grass Valley," said Steve Stubelt, vice president of sales, Americas, Grass Valley. "We're not just showcasing new products, but new technology components that will take our existing solutions and workflows to a higher level. The next big trend is always around the corner in our industry, and Grass Valley solutions are future-ready to handle any upcoming innovation."

The basis of Grass Valley's next-generation product offerings for agile media processing workflows, GV Engine and GV Platform core technology components, will be demonstrated throughout the show. GV Engine is a software-based processing engine that has been highly optimized to deliver low latency real time conversion, processing, generation and caching of SMPTE 2110 and SDI based media flows. GV Platform is a microservices-based management platform that provides tools to easily deploy and manage flexible and scalable CPU and FPGA accelerated media transform engines. At the 2018 HPA Tech Retreat, Grass Valley will feature one GV Engine playing out multiple 1080p HDR media streams for source content, and another performing real-time CPU/GPU based HDR to SDR down mapping, 1080p to 720p down conversion, and other key media transform processes.

As an additional live media source, Grass Valley will have LDX 86N Series native HD/3G/4K High Speed system cameras on site along with the XCU Universe UXF SDI/IP base station, generating 1080p PQ and 1080p HLG content. To further demonstrate Grass Valley's flexible software based IP infrastructures, a Kaleido-IP Multiviewer will also be on site, receiving all IP HDR and SDR streams, and displaying them on a 4K HDR monitor. All sources, destinations, and processing engines on display at the show will be connected via Cisco 3000 series IP switch, utilizing a COTS-based infrastructure.
