Grass Valley Premiers Live Esports Action and Professional Gamers at NAB Show

MONTREAL, April 1, 2019 — At NAB Show 2019, Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, will underscore its leadership in helping gaming companies, esports platforms and specialist esports venues produce brilliant content and connect to fans. In an NAB Show first for the company, Grass Valley will host a live esports competition on its booth (NAB booth #SL106), bringing attendees face-to-face with exciting live gameplay and professional gamers. The action will demonstrate Grass Valley's ability to leverage decades of live production experience to meet the specific needs of esports companies and specialist venues.

"With global revenues set to reach $1.6 billion by 2021, the dynamic esports sector presents a real opportunity for our customers to create connections between fans around exciting live gaming environments," said Mark Hilton, vice president of live production at Grass Valley. "Our esports stage demonstrates how Grass Valley helps customers create and leverage captivating content in new and exciting ways, allowing them to meet consumer demands for engaging and immersive experiences on any platform."

A collaboration with competitive gaming platform and specialist esports production company FACEIT, the Grass Valley stage will feature four professional gamers battling each other at Rocket League. Visitors will see first-hand why Grass Valley is the unmatched partner for the world's leading names in this rapidly growing sector — from Riot Games to Blizzard Arena, Esports Arena Las Vegas and Esports Stadium Arlington.

The Grass Valley booth will also feature a live esports production environment that replicates an end-to-end production workflow. Capturing the action will be Grass Valley's LDX 86N Series cameras, two M/E GV Korona K-Frame V-series production switcher, the Ignite automated production control platform to drive the switcher, a T2 4K digital recorder/player to archive the daily competitions, and the ultra-fast LiveTouch highlights system that will handle super-slow motion and instant replays.

The live games will be hosted by specialist esports interviewer, commentator, writer and presenter Freya Spiers, an esports enthusiast who co-founded topmid.gg to create a platform for esports news, interviews and features. The professional gamers competing on Grass Valley's NAB Show 2019 booth are:

  • Stumpy: Alex 'Stumpy' Knight is a full-time presenter, interviewer and streamer, specializing in Rocket League. He hosts his own show on Ginx Esports TV five days a week.
  • Cole: Emile 'Cole' Cole is a full-time esports content creator that writes and presents for multiple outlets, including Ginx Esports TV and Dexerto.com - the world's largest provider of esports news.
  • Doomsee: Ryan 'Doomsee' Graham is a professional Rocket League player and streamer and has competed in the RLCS (Rocket League Championship Series) as well as the Gfinity Elite Series in London.
  • SunlessKhan: Jared 'SunlessKhan' Zook is a full-time Rocket League content creator with over 250,000 subscribers on YouTube and 20,000 followers on Twitch.

Grass Valley is also a Gold Sponsor of the NAB Esports Experience (N419) — NAB Show's biggest esports and gaming pavilion to date — and is sponsoring several conference sessions during this first-time event.
