STV Minsk Leverages Future-Ready OB Capability with Grass Valley Solutions Ahead of 2019 European Games

MONTREAL, June 18, 2019 — Grass Valley solutions have been chosen to form the core infrastructure and production capability of a brand new HD OB truck commissioned by Stolichnoe Televidenie (STV) Minsk. The project is part of the broadcaster's wider migration to HD and preparation for the 2019 European Games, taking place in Minsk from June 21-30, which STV will support with equipment and broadcast services.

A long-standing Grass Valley customer, the Belarus national broadcaster — one of three across the country — has deployed six LDX 82 cameras, two LDX 86 HighSpeed cameras, a 2ME Kahuna 4800 production switcher, NVISION 8144 router and the K2 DynoS replay system. The broadcaster benefits from seamless integration with its main production facility, which houses Grass Valley infrastructure, cameras and production switchers. The newly implemented Grass Valley workflow also gives STV a future-ready OB unit that has a smooth transition path to 4K UHD when needed.

Kanstantsin Auramenka, deputy general director at STV Minsk commented: "Making the transition to HD is a pivotal point in our evolution as a broadcaster and it is important for us to work with a partner that not only understands our business but can also deliver solutions that help us respond to the changing needs of our audience. As the leader in live production, Grass Valley was the most suitable company who can deliver the end-to-end system that we wanted. We have worked with them in the past and know first-hand that their systems are reliable and flexible, allowing us to handle a wide range of productions from sports to news, all with stunning images."

Designed and built by system integrator and coach builder, TVC, in Lithuania, STV Minsk's new OB unit is optimized with the power and flexibility required to support a range of production needs as it aims to deliver more coverage of sports, live events and concerts to its viewers.

"In a mediascape that is shifting rapidly, broadcasters and media companies need to know their investments are future-proof. Whatever their business and operational requirements — whether migrating from SD to HD or from SDI to IP — our customers want the assurance that they have a partner for the long-haul, that can provide a clear roadmap for the future. This is what Grass Valley delivers," said Tim Banks, vice president of sales, EMEA. "We are very proud that STV Minsk has once again chosen our solutions for this important milestone, it underlines our commitment to helping customers transition to new technologies in a way that helps them build successful media businesses."
