MONTREAL, CANADA – AUGUST 21, 2026 – At IBC2026, Grass Valley will showcase infrastructure connecting SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, MXL and software-based processing as one unified operational environment. 

Under the theme Connect Everything, Everywhere, Grass Valley will demonstrate how media organizations can modernize existing facilities without replacing the surrounding infrastructure or creating new operational silos. Routing, processing, orchestration and monitoring come together across dedicated hardware and software-defined workflows, supporting unified media operations and Grass Valley’s hybrid-by-design approach. 

Routing for Modern UHD Production 

IBC2026 will provide the first opportunity to see the Altair 12G-SDI router following its initial shipments earlier this year. Designed for small and mid-sized facilities, production hubs, venues and mobile production, Altair combines 12G-SDI routing and multiviewing in a compact 6RU frame, scaling to 160×160 12G-SDI I/O and up to 16 independent multiviewers. Through AMPP Orchestration, it becomes part of the wider infrastructure environment. 

Modular Processing Across SDI, IP and MXL 

Grass Valley will showcase Densité improved capabilities across XIP-3911 and the newly released ACE-3901 modular infrastructure. XIP-3911-IO improves performance, stability and workflows for hybrid SDI and SMPTE ST 2110, with frame synchronization, precision timing, mixed frame-rate and film-mode support, switching, expanded audio profiles and improved PTP stability. 

The newly released ACE-3901 provides two high-density gateway applications with the latest generation processing core, showcasing this next-generation infrastructure at IBC2026 for the first time.  

ACE-3901-IO provides SDI to uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 conversion, supporting up to 64 3G-SDI signals in 32×32 or 32 12G-SDI signals in 16×16 on a single card.  

ACE-3901-GRID connects SDI directly with AMPP for MXL-native, software-based production, initially supporting up to 32 3G-SDI GRID gateway signals in a 16×16 configuration per card, with deterministic, low-latency performance.  

Recognized with Best of Show awards at IBC2025 and NAB Show 2026, ACE-3901-GRID bridges established infrastructure and the Dynamic Media Facility. Together, ACE-3901-IO and ACE-3901-GRID connect SDI with either SMPTE ST 2110 or MXL workflows. 

One Orchestration Layer Across More Signal Types 

AMPP Orchestration brings hardware, software and distributed resources into a common operational environment. At IBC2026, Grass Valley will demonstrate orchestration across SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, MXL, AMPP Global Streaming and TVU MediaMesh routing. NMOS newly enables MXL flow discovery and control, while GV Orbit extends orchestration into established infrastructure including Altair, XIP-3911 and ACE-3901. 

Scalable Monitoring and Operational Visibility 

Kaleido-IP X brings mesh multiviewer capabilities to AMPP, enabling monitoring of any AMPP-supported input, including MXL, through familiar Kaleido workflows. The demonstration combines multi-channel monitoring with Playout X and a new penalty box function and display for feeds requiring attention. Together, Kaleido-IP X and AMPP provide scalable monitoring across facilities, edge locations and software-processing environments through a common multiviewer experience. 

Controlled Evolution, Not Forced Replacement 

The new capabilities reflect the reality that SDI, ST 2110, MXL, remote connectivity and software-based processing increasingly need to coexist. MONTREAL, CANADA –AUGUST 14, 2026 – At IBC2026, Grass Valley will demonstrate the principles of the Dynamic Media Facility in action today, bringing hardware, software-defined applications, existing infrastructure and partner technologies together as one unified media operation.

Through its active support of the JT-DMF industry initiative and the open standards that will underpin the Dynamic Media Facility, Grass Valley’s IBC showcase will put these principles into practice across a complete, camera-to-consumer workflow, while demonstrating how AMPP will continue to adopt DMF-aligned standards as they are released.

The environment combines Grass Valley’s hardware portfolio – including LDX cameras, the latest Altair router and the new ACE-3901-GRID MXL gateway – with AMPP OS-based applications as an end-to-end media workflow. ACE-3901-GRID bridges existing SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 infrastructure with software-defined workflows, while AMPP provides the orchestration, media fabric and scalable compute needed to deploy applications across on-premises, edge and cloud environments.  

This hybrid-by-design approach allows media organizations to introduce software-defined production alongside the infrastructure, workflows and operational expertise already delivering value. Dedicated systems continue to provide predictable performance for live operations, while AMPP-based applications add flexibility and scalable processing where required.

Native support for MXL, the Media eXchange Layer, extends this approach by giving software media functions a shared method to access and exchange media. It replaces application-specific approaches to media transport, conversion and integration with a common model that preserves the timing, identity and context required for professional production. 

At IBC2026, Grass Valley will demonstrate native MXL v1.1 support in AMPP, together with the latest NMOS implementations for MXL flow discovery and control. The technology will operate across an end-to-end workflow spanning acquisition, ingest, media processing and monitoring, live production, content management and playout.

Unified Workflows from Camera to Consumer 

The booth itself will operate as a connected production environment, demonstrating how SDI, SMPTE ST 2110 and MXL each support different parts of a modern media workflow. SDI and ST 2110 remain foundational across facilities, devices and real-time production, while MXL enables media exchange between software applications once media has entered compute.

Visitors will see these technologies working together across live production, networking, processing, monitoring, content workflows, orchestration and automation. Grass Valley production switchers will extend familiar control surfaces across hardware and software-defined environments, while ACE-3901-GRID will connect established facility infrastructure with MXL-native applications in AMPP. 

The showcase will include reverse REMI production and the remote operation of a software-defined OB truck in partnership with DMC Production and Broadcast Solutions. Customer use cases across the booth will provide further examples of media organizations combining dedicated systems with software-defined capabilities for live production, content management, media processing and large-scale delivery.

Phoenix Broadcast Solutions Raises its Live Production Game with Grass Valley 

Singapore-based broadcast services provider has deployed Grass Valley cameras, switchers and hybrid workflow infrastructure across sports and entertainment productions

MONTREAL, CANADA – May 19, 2026 – Grass Valley has entered into a three-year enterprise agreement with Phoenix Broadcast Solutions as the Singapore-based company expands its live production operations across APAC and the Middle East. 

The agreement includes the deployment of Grass Valley LDX Series cameras, K-Frame production switchers and Densité/XIP infrastructure to support OB, REMI and hybrid production workflows across sports and entertainment projects. 

Phoenix Broadcast Solutions provides live production services across international sports and multi-event productions, specializing in OB, REMI and hybrid workflows for major sporting events and broadcasters across APAC and the Middle East. As part of the revamp of its operations, the company sought a scalable production ecosystem capable of supporting rapid deployment across multiple geographies and varied production environments. 

“We were looking for a production infrastructure that could scale with the type of projects we are delivering across different markets,” said Siddhartha Tyagi, Founder & Managing Director, Phoenix Broadcast Solutions.

Built around the ACE-3901 gateway card, AMPP Orchestration and Grass Valley’s now MXL-native AMPP OS, the approach enables ingest, routing, processing and control to operate in unison across SDI and IP, deployed on-prem, in the cloud or across hybrid environments. The result is an infrastructure foundation designed to support elastic production and modernization without requiring full system replacement.

Central to the updates being shown for the first time in Las Vegas is the ACE-3901-GRID application, which extends high-density connectivity from SDI infrastructure into AMPP OS. With AMPP OS now MXL-native, that creates a more efficient path between dedicated hardware resources and software-defined workflows. Combined with AMPP Orchestration, this creates a seamless and unified control layer across baseband, IP and cloud-connected environments. 

The approach is further enhanced by integrations from Grass Valley’s Alliance Partners, who will be demonstrating real-world use cases at the company’s Central Hall booth (C2408).  

Connect. Modernize. Scale 
Signals are no longer constrained by format or location. What was once a relatively simple local routing environment has evolved, through hybrid and distributed production, into a far broader operational challenge, with signals now moving across baseband, local IP and remote compressed sources. To address that complexity, AMPP Orchestration consolidates multi-format, multi-platform routing into one shared operational environment. 

AMPP OS now natively supports NDI 6.3 alongside Dante audio streams, while contribution sources from TVU MediaMesh and participant video streams via Zoom ISOcloud can also be received within the same environment, reducing operational overhead and minimizing the need for additional receiver devices. 

For operations built on existing infrastructure, control remains consistent. TSL Hummingbird provides protocol conversion that allows AMPP applications to manage legacy systems alongside software-defined workflows, enabling modernization without replacing established control layers. 

Infrastructure capacity can also be dynamically aligned to production demand. LayerCake provisions complete production environments, including AMPP compute instances and routing configurations, as pre-defined templates that can be deployed or collapsed as required. This shifts infrastructure from fixed capacity to an on-demand model, matching the reality of the operation. 

Hybrid Production as Standard 
Additional AMPP OS updates include NMOS Bridge, which improves device discovery and control in mixed IP environments, integration to GV Orbit for unified orchestration and new Kaleido-IP X Pro enhancements for scalable multi-standard multiviewing. 

The result is connected infrastructure where routing, processing and orchestration are presented to the operator as a single system. Signals can move between SDI, IP and cloud environments without intervention, while control and visibility remain consistent across the operation.

Grass Valley Launches Future Playmakers Program to Support the Next Generation of Sports Production Talent

New initiative combines scholarships, hands-on learning, and access to Grass Valley technology to help universities develop industry-ready talent for live sports production

MONTREAL, CANADA – April 6, 2026 – Grass Valley today announced the launch of its Future Playmakers Program, a new global initiative designed to support and develop the next generation of professionals in sports production and media technology. 

Timed ahead of NAB Show, the program reflects Grass Valley’s continued investment in education, workforce development, and long-term industry growth. It is built to help students gain practical experience while enabling higher education institutions to strengthen their production programs with access to professional-grade tools and workflows. 

The Future Playmakers Program combines scholarships, hands-on learning, technology access, and institutional collaboration. It is designed to create a sustainable pipeline of talent trained on industry-standard solutions used across live sports and event production.

Inside Walmart’s IP-Based Broadcast Transformation

Walmart’s Sam Walton Hall Event Center combines live events and broadcast operations within a SMPTE ST 2110 IP environment. Standardising on Grass Valley production systems, the facility enables consistent, multilingual communications across a global workforce of more than two million associates

When Walmart began developing its new corporate campus in Bentonville, Arkansas, the objective was clear: create a central environment that could support collaboration, communication, and culture at global scale. At the heart of the 350-acre site is the Sam Walton Hall Event Center, a purpose-built venue designed to serve as both a live event space and a broadcast hub for one of the world’s largest workforces. 

Operational since January 2025, Sam Walton Hall supports internal communications for Walmart’s 2.1 million associates worldwide. The facility brings together live production, broadcast, and event operations within a single, connected infrastructure, enabling the company to communicate consistently across offices, regions, and time zones.  

“It’s positioned right in the centre of the campus,” says Dave Magnia, chief engineer, campus events at Walmart. “From any office building, it’s a short walk. The intention was to make company-wide events and broadcasts easy to access, both technically and operationally.” 

Unified production ecosystem 

The Event Center is the result of a five-year development process involving Walmart, APRO Designs, and Grass Valley. Early designs were based on traditional SDI workflows, reflecting Walmart’s long history in internal broadcasting. The company has operated its own television studio since 1988, originally using satellite distribution to communicate directly with stores across the US. 

As the campus project evolved, the team reassessed its technical approach and made the decision to transition the facility to a SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based architecture. While the move was not initially driven by creative requirements, the operational and infrastructure benefits became increasingly clear during the design phase. “When we started running the numbers, the cabling savings alone were significant,” Magnia explains. “Once you get into router sizes at this scale, reducing copper and labour has a real impact. IP also gave us far more flexibility in how we designed and distributed the system.” 

The 130,000-square-foot facility includes a 1,150-seat auditorium, a 900-seat conference centre divisible into six rooms, a broadcast television studio, a radio studio, two auxiliary control rooms, and an outdoor amphitheatre. A core requirement was that every space could be operated independently or combined into larger productions, depending on the event. “Operator consistency was critical,” says Magnia. “We wanted staff to be able to move between control rooms and see the same panels, the same layouts, and the same workflows.” 

Grass Valley K-Frame production switchers were deployed across the control rooms to support this requirement, providing a uniform operational environment regardless of production scale. System orchestration and signal management are handled using Grass Valley Orbit, which enables routing control across video, audio, timecode, and metadata within the IP infrastructure. 

Walmart Switcher

Moving to SMPTE 2110 also allowed Walmart to decentralise its signal processing. Instead of relying on a single central rack room, IP gateways and interfaces enabled I/O to be distributed throughout the building, simplifying expansion and reducing physical constraints. 

Bridging the Worlds of Audio and IT  

Today, the Event Center supports a wide range of internal broadcasts, streamed globally using platforms including Zoom, YouTube, and WorkVivo, Walmart’s internal communications network. Content is delivered in multiple languages, including English, French, Hindi, Mandarin, and Spanish, reflecting the geographic spread of Walmart’s workforce. 

“Being able to manage multilingual audio workflows efficiently was essential,” Magnia says. “With 2110, we can pair different audio tracks and adapt outputs without redesigning the system.” 

Audio integration was one of the more complex aspects of the project. Walmart’s production audio infrastructure is built around Yamaha consoles using Dante, alongside a Q-SYS system for background audio across the campus. Integrating these environments within a 2110 framework required close coordination between broadcast engineering and IT teams. 

Security was another key consideration. As a corporate facility, the system needed to comply with strict IT security policies without compromising broadcast performance. Walmart deployed Cisco Nexus-class switches and worked closely with Cisco and Grass Valley engineers to validate and optimise the network configuration. “Every 2110 deployment is different,” Magnia notes. “There’s no single blueprint. NBC Sports has selected Grass Valley to provide advanced infrastructure, routing, orchestration, and frame rate conversion solutions for its production of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympics, Feb. 6-22, and March 6-15, respectively.

With Milan and Cortina, Italy, in the same time zone as Paris, France, the programming plan for the 2026 Winter Games will be similar to NBCUniversal’s massively consumed and critically acclaimed coverage of last year’s Summer Games, including:

  • the best events live during the day on NBC
  • the entire Olympics streaming live on Peacock
  • an enhanced Olympics primetime show, Primetime in Milan, featuring top events, stars, and stories
  • comprehensive coverage across numerous cable and digital platforms
  • return of Gold Zone and Multiview on Peacock

The Opening Ceremony from San Siro Stadium in Milan will be presented on Friday, Feb. 6, live on NBC and Peacock. NBCUniversal is presenting its 20th Olympic Games, 13th consecutive overall, and owns the U.S. media rights on all platforms to all Olympic Games through 2036, which are scheduled for Milan Cortina (2026), Los Angeles (2028), French Alps (2030), Brisbane (2032), Utah (2034), and the Olympic Games 2036 (host yet to be determined).

NBC Sports will utilize Grass Valley to deliver advanced signal conversion, routing, and orchestration technologies for its production of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. These solutions will be deployed onsite in Italy, at NBC Sports’ facilities in Stamford, Conn., and 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, helping NBC Sports route the excitement in Italy back to viewers watching coverage of the Games in the United States.

Challenge

Walmart needed a production environment capable of supporting live events and global broadcasts across multiple interconnected spaces, while maintaining operational consistency and flexibility

The facility includes a large auditorium, conference center, broadcast studio, radio studio, auxiliary control rooms, and outdoor amphitheater. Every room needed to be interconnected and controllable from multiple locations. At the same time, the system had to meet strict IT security requirements and integrate complex audio workflows

Walmart transitioned from a traditional SDI architecture to a SMPTE ST 2110 IP-based infrastructure, significantly reducing cabling requirements while enabling decentralized signal processing across the campus.

Grass Valley K-Frame production switchers were standardized across control rooms to ensure consistent workflows and operator familiarity. The entire system is orchestrated through Grass Valley Orbit, providing centralized control over video, audio, timecode, and metadata routing.

IP gateways and distributed I/O allow signals to move efficiently between venues, while integration with Cisco Nexus switches ensures performance aligned with enterprise network standards.

Today, Sam Walton Hall supports live productions and corporate broadcasts delivered globally via digital platforms and internal networks. The facility enables multilingual programming and flexible audio configurations while maintaining broadcast-level reliability. Grass Valley Delivers Breakthrough 4K UHD OB Truck to Guangdong Radio and Television

China’s first Native-IP UHD outside broadcast system ushers in a new era of live production

MONTREAL, CANADA – December 3, 2025 – Grass Valley recently delivered a cutting-edge 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) outside broadcast (OB) truck to Guangdong Radio and Television (GRT), in partnership with Beijing Sailing Hightop Technology Development Co., Ltd. The handover ceremony, attended by senior executives from GRT, Sailing Hightop, and Grass Valley, marks a major milestone in China’s evolution toward next-generation IP-based broadcast technology.

During the ceremony, a spokesperson for Sailing Hightop expressed appreciation to all project partners, noting that seamless collaboration across system design, integration, and commissioning ensured the project was completed on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. According to the spokesperson of GRT, the new OB unit will enhance the broadcaster’s ability to produce and transmit large-scale sports and entertainment events in 4K UHD, providing strong technical support for the upcoming events.

The new OB truck is the first Native-IP UHD system in China, representing a transformative shift away from traditional baseband infrastructure. By adopting a fully IP-based architecture, the unit delivers new levels of flexibility, scalability, and efficiency for live production. Equipped with Grass Valley’s LDX 135/150 cameras and the Grass Valley K-Frame CXP switcher, the system supports 4K and 8K live production with HDR and WCG capabilities, while its distributed workflow enables real-time remote collaboration and future cloud deployment via GV Orbit SDN and AMPP (Agile Media Processing Platform). The design also maximizes space and energy efficiency and enables multi-platform content delivery through native landscape and portrait conversion.

The project reflects Grass Valley’s strong commitment to innovation and close collaboration with partners across the Asia-Pacific region. New gateway, orchestration, multiviewer and routing solutions along with AMPP integrations from GVMU Partners will be showcased on the company’s Hall 9 booth

MONTREAL, CANADA – September 2, 2025 – Grass Valley will showcase the next generation of live production networking and infrastructure solutions at IBC 2025, introducing a comprehensive suite of products designed to give broadcasters and media companies the freedom to evolve on their own terms. From bridging legacy and IP workflows to ensuring resilience across regions, Grass Valley’s latest innovations deliver agility, scalability, and operational confidence for the world’s most demanding productions.

Networking Reinvented

At the heart of Grass Valley’s networking products is the brand new ACE-3901 card, a powerful Software-Defined Agile Compute Engine for the Densité Modular platform. ACE-3901 transforms legacy infrastructure into a modern, hybrid-ready environment. With up to 32× 12G-SDI or 64× 3G-SDI per card and 400 Gb/s fabric bandwidth, it delivers high density, ultra-low latency signal processing in a compact form factor.

For existing SDI facilities, the ACE-3901 provides an on-ramp to ST2110 with the ACE-3901-IO application with the highest density in the marketplace. The ACE-3901-GRID application goes even further by integrating its high performance FPGA based resources directly into AMPP– augmenting server resources with the ACE-3901 cards, seamlessly blending the best of both worlds, and supporting up to 192 inputs and outputs per 4RU frame to be connected to both single node and multi-node AMPP GRID clusters.

ACE-3901 naturally provides built-in auto-discovery and telemetry through the GV Orbit orchestration platform to ensure faster, smarter, and more resilient routing decisions.

Scalable up to 160 × 160 I/O, it provides native UHD routing with built-in multiviewer engines driving up to 16 displays and 512 PiPs per screen. With frame synchronization, MADI audio options, and direct connect hardware control panels, it delivers the power of a large router in a small, efficient chassis, ideal for OB trucks, regional studios, esports arenas, and education facilities.

Smarter Hybrid Workflows

As part of the continuing expansion of the AMPP ecosystem, Grass Valley is introducing two powerful new capabilities that give customers even greater elasticity, flexibility, and cost control in their productions.

AMPP HUB is a new enhancement to the AMPP control plane that keeps workflows fast and resilient. Distributed solutions typically require control messages to be routed via the cloud, introducing unnecessary control latency, but with the addition of AMPP HUB, those messages are handled locally whenever possible. This reduces latency, saves bandwidth, and ensures operations remain responsive even if cloud connectivity is unexpectedly interrupted. The result is production operations that feel as immediate and reliable as you’d expect for an on-site solution, with all the elasticity of AMPP behind them.

For the most demanding productions, AMPP Multi-Region Resilience extends that power with active redundancy across regions. Continuous state mirroring and policy-driven failover provide confidence that operations will continue seamlessly, even in the face of regional outages or planned maintenance. With scalable multi-node workflows enabled by AMPP GRID, Kaleido-IP X Professional combines advanced layout customization with real-time signal probing for black video, freeze, and audio loss, giving teams absolute confidence that every feed is under control. Operators can view all major SDI, ST 2110, and compressed IP sources together in one flexible canvas, eliminating the need for separate systems.

A New Era of Networking at IBC 2025

Grass Valley will also welcome its latest GVMU Alliance Partners to its booth in Amsterdam, three of whom will showcase new network and orchestration integrations with AMPP.

Skyline Communications will demonstrate how its xOPs Platform orchestrates AMPP and over 800 other applications while scheduling online and offline resources and monitoring the entire production chain – empowering AMPP as the core to an end-to-end solution, enabling complex productions to be spun up and down with production needs.

Layercake will showcase its templated orchestration and scheduling of Grass Valley AMPP solutions, third-party apps and compute, through its Streamcake solution – allowing customers to easily and cost effectively adopt cloud-based remote production and distribution.

Finally, TSL will be on the stand with TSL AMPP Portal, GVO Tally, and TSL control panels.
